Hi.. i have a 99 f150.. and my ABS light was on after every time i started it.. but we had the dealer run it on the computer and there was nothing wrong with it.. one day i was just sitting there after i started it.. i turned the key slightly back and it made a click and the abs light went off.. i think the key stays too far forward after starting it and it shorts out the lights in the dash. I used to have an 87 F150 inline 6 and it had the same problem with the ABS light on all the time.. hope that helps.. good luck
I just had my 2000 explorer serviced for this problem. The RABS sensor, on the rear axle, was malfunctioning. Ford had to replace the sensor. It was under warranty fo rme.
Maybe the fluid is just low. That or if you've really jumped on the brakes recently the proportioning valve could be off center. Bleeding the brakes will probably correct that problem.
By far the most common fix seems to be the vehicle speed sensor on the differential.
around 20 bucks at your favorite ford dealer and 10 to 15 minutes to replace it. only 1 bolt. 3/8" I think.

ABS light came on my 99 Explorer Limited, 88k miles. Speed sensor replaced. Left the truck at the local dealer this morning and they diagnosed and installed in an hour and a half and $140.00 I would have done it myself, but without the ABS diagnostics, I'd be throwin' quality time and probably more $ at it.

Isn't this more of an issue when the ((BRAKE)) light is ont on the dash. Low fluid or the parking brake being on cause that one to light up. Usually the ABS light only comes on at self-test and then if there is something detected in the ABS hardware itself.
