I am restoring a 51 F-5 that has the original 239 cid flathead, I was thinking that Ford didn't switch the engine color from red till 1952. This motor is a 51, did late production models go to a green color in 51? If so does anyone know what the color was or paint code to restore back exact.
I believe it should be the red for that year- not 100% sure on that. My gpas ol stock 51 had red, but its been a few years since I've seen that truck

Was it a Canadian built truck? Merc and Ford painted them an off-white (ivory) up here. I know for a fact, my '52 Ford F1 with the 239 C1BA/8RT flathead came with this off-white color. Two of my friends both have '52 Merc pickup trucks and the blocks were/are this color too. ...Terry

The truck was built at the Chester, PA plant. I thought it was a red engine being a 51, but some said in the late productions they switched to a light green.
