Dealership Don't Know
Took my 02 X into the dealership this morning. Had that odd whining sound that a couple of threads have talked about. This is slightly different though. This whine only happens on downshift (Auto Trans) from 4-3 and 3-2 then goes quiet. According to the dealership, it seems to be coming from the transfer case area. Also, there is shudder coming through the brake pedal during the downshift. Its not the same shudder you'd have with bad rotors. Its slower than that. Service manager and another senior tech says they've never heard the sound that is coming from my driveline. The only thing they could come up with so far is that it might be worn fluid in the axles/transfer case. Anyone else out there with similar issues?
