true or false?????

Yesterday I had a flowmaster installed(1in2out-3"pipes).Looks cool 2 out from under rear bumper.Salesman said 40 series would be way to loud in the cab and insisted I would rather go with the 50 series. After completion i can hardly hear the truck idle!!!!not to happy especially after spending $436.00.I read a thread that says it will get louder after a while....True or False?????Thanks for any replies.

I had a set of free-flow mufflers on a '73 chevelle 350 that did get slightly louder after a while. Of course, that was in my college years with a heavier foot. Give it some time & a few extra romps on the go pedal.

I hate to say this, but, IMO, you got the shaft on that deal.

I love my Flowmaster 40, and it is not too loud in the cab at highway speeds, but can get a bit annoying when having to tow with the OD off, but other than that I love it....sounds like a mustang when yo punch the gas!

I think I paid a grand total of ~$270 for the same set up.

Did you get a quote before having the work done?

I would go back and demand that they change it out to the muffler that you want, and make sure that you explain your situation to a manager calmly.

I agree with the previous post. I have a '01 F150 4X4 with the 40 series and the dual out set up. Paid $265.00 installed and I love the sound. It does get a bit loud when towing but you know it is running. I can hear my wife leaving for work for about .5 mile on the open highway. It did get a bit louder but nothing to talk about so I would get what you want and even a refund if possible.

I Have Magnaflow 3" Si/so And 3' Pipe Back To A Four Inch Tip And It Is Loud When You Step On The Gas But At An Idle It Is Very Quiet. I Think Must Exhaust Systems At Idle Are Very Quiet.

Old muffler that were packed with fiberglass would get louder as they got older. New style mufflers shouldn't change their sound level unless they rust out.
