FTE's number slammed --- will be resolved
THIS IS TEMPORARY AND WE HOPE TO RESOLVE IT ASAP
Here's the story:
Early March, we ask ATT to handle our local service. They tell us it will take 3-5 days to handle it. Three weeks later, no switch so I call ATT up and cancel the order.
On the 12th of April, a month and a half from the start of this fiasco, ATT switches our number WITHOUT our consent. I wasn't aware of it until today. I call at 11:00 am and tell them I had canceled the order. Well about 1:30 pm today, they PULL the plug on the line rather than switch it back! I call Bellsouth (who has always been wonderful) and they tell me that although ATT has disconnected the line they have NOT released the line so they CAN'T switch me back!
I have been on hold the phone for over an hour, disconnected from my calls twice and bounced from one incompetent idiot to another. ATT's customer service sucks, the people who handle orders are incompetent and this type of crap is inexcusable. Its no wonder nationally syndicated consumer reporter Clark Howard says ATT is a company with customer no-service. ATT must have bribed JD Powers to get that award because they sure haven't impressed me.
I should have never even thought of leaving Bell South in the first place.... I hear that ATT is in trouble and its no wonder --- hopefully they'll do me a favor and file bankruptcy... yeah, I'm made as hell.

What sweet irony, a non-communicative company whose sole business is communication.
Remember, it was Congress who decided it would so much better for everyone to break up the AT&T monoply and this is the result. Now they're after Microsoft....shudder!
In my youth I worked for old Ma Bell and service was everything. Many a night was spent stringing drop wire through the brush to provide that promised day of phone service to a customer. What I experience now is simply revolting.
Buck up Ken, there are happier days ahead.
Called again and was disconnected after being put on hold.
Called AGAIN and was told that I asked them to have my disconnected and that is why they disconnected it (Bellsouth has ATT order tickets that prove otherwise). I asked to speak to a supervisor and they hung up on me!
Called again, waited 12 minutes and after not speaking to a human, I hung up.
Well, now I'm calling Clark Howard and the public service commission plus I'm filling a loss of business claim with our insurance company... and I know Hartford Insurance will bill ATT for it. Already called the FCC and filed a complaint for slamming.
Throughout this ordeal Bellsouth has been very prompt, informative and courteous plus they even conferenced me in on a call to ATT (we were disconnected by ATT after being on hold for 11 minutes). How can ATT expect to keep customers when they treat people like this? I've already received emails from customers asking if we were out of business because the line is disconnected. Ma Bell has been great, ATT hasn't.
Right now, as I type, I on yet another call with them, have been on it for 15 minutes and I've talked to 3 people on this call alone, all bouncing me around claiming they couldn't do anything for me... Can these people do anything??? Grrrrrrr................

I never have understood how they rose to the top anyway. I thought we had monopoly laws? They sure messed up Microsoft...

Frank has always been well connected politically... he's done everything from serving on a predential campaign to volunteer work monitoring local elections. He and I had a very interesting talk...
He asked me "do you remember the thin gentleman you sat next to when we were at the Republican dinner in the fall?"
I reply, "Yes, what about him?"
Frank says "He's the Georgia Public Service Commisioner and I'm well connected with him."
Long pause (ie, we both know what he meant by his answer)... followed by some interesting discussion. Without going into details, it looks like I'm going to be having a very interesting talk with ATT tomorrow and they are the ones who are going to be feeling immense pressure.
