Can sombody please tell me how to remove the front rotor from a 1988 F-250 4x4?
I thought It would be as easy as removing the caliper and pulling it off but I am obviously missing somthing.
Could sombody help me out when the get a chance?
You will have to take off the lockout and a lock ring and a snap ring then you will need a hub-nut socket (about a $10 item at a local parts store). Take off the first nut then you will need to pull off the ring behind it then there will be another nut, take it off and then the hub/rotor assy. will come right off. To get the rotor off of the hub you just need to knock out the lug studs. When you put it back together make sure which hub nut you put back on first, one has a nipple that needs to face towards you and then the ring goes on and that nipple will fit in one of the holes on the ring (you may have to try several times moving the nut each time). Sound good?
wow $10 for one the one for my 1/2 ton was $20 which there is two different sizes on the front axle on the f250 if you have the light duty 250 youll need the small one if it is the heavy duty 250 with the dana50 axle youll need the big one autozone rents them for free with a deposit but if the trucks a keeper you be better to pony up the $ and buy one the big one will set you back about $50
