speed "cruise" control

I bought a speed control kit on ebay part # F75Z 9A818 AAW. It was listed for a 97-99 F150, Everything fit on my 04 Heritage though it won't work. I did notice there is a wire on the #1 term of the connector of the servo which doesn't show
up on my 99 wiring diagram. Anyone know what #1 is for? I tested the wiring for the BPP,and switches all ok, have power on #7. Does the PCM need to be programmed for the speed control?

I havent installed a cruise control kit in years so I cant really help you.
Maybe HomerWinzlow will see this and have some ideas.
In the instructions for the kit is there a help line number you can call?
I dont think that the PCM has to be reprogrammed.
If the servo is the same as on a 2003 then the #1 pin goes to the light on the instrument cluster that tells you when the cruise is on.
Do you have a good ground on #10?
Is the brake pressure switch on the master cylinder hooked up and working?

I did some calling around and the Mfg
told me the newer one is programmed different.
I still don't get it, all the I/O seem the same, I
would expect it to at least power up.

Not really, he kept babling about liability, blah blah blah, so I need to find a ford tech who is familiar with it. Just between you and me are are there Ford techs who post here? I used the diesel forum and it's amazing the knowkedge base they've got over there. You might say thy're fanatical. Very similar the the Pelican site for Porsche. I suppose certain vehicles attract mechanical and tech minded people who want to know how they run and how tho keep them that way.

Well scanning thru the various years schematics it would appear that the kit should work as long as the cables are compatible. I am assuming you installed the clockspring that came with the kit, the pedal mounted microswitch which acts in place of the brake pressure switch, installed all the included wiring and verified all the circuits. So now you should have a horn that works, brake switch applies power to the connector for the servo when applied, and the deactivation circuit loses power when the brake is applied. With a multimeter jumped between pins 5 and 6, you should set to Ohms and get 2200 ohms with the resume switch applied, 680 ohms with the set switch applied, and 120 ohms with the coast switch applied. You should have power at pin 7 with key on, and a good ground at pin 10. You didnt mention whether you have manual transmission or not, or 4x4. The only other thing I can think of is that it isnt getting a speed signal. No guarantee of course the kit will work at all though, since they changed them several times over the course of the 97-2004 production. Possibly due to processor looking for a vref signal or something. I dont have schematics for dealer installed kits, which is what you have, so I can only speculate at this point. All we have in service manuals is for factory installed units, which can differ substantially.

First, thanks for checking this out, Great handle I love your paintings.
Affirmative to all the troubleshooting. The only thing I haven't checked is the VSS
I read I should get a 5 volt ac, technically I suppose 5 volt DC square wave.
Shouldn't it be able to enter the diagnostic mode by holding the off button in while I turn the key on? Do you know what year this capability was deployed? .
I'm an electronic tech. so this is pretty basic stuff for me. It all points to the module
I'm waiting to hear from the guy I purchased it from to see if he'll excahnge my module for a later one. It's an automatic 4X2 by the way.
