ebay, 175 for the full kit to do it, steering wheel, servo motor, wires, and all. Ford dealer instal kit. I alsmot bought it for mine, but 99-01 trucks use one, 02-04 use another. pretty easy to do, only scary cause you have to remove air bag. make sure you get the gas motor one, not the diesel kit.
yea, cruise on a manual works fine. had it on my cobra. it just doesnt downshift by itself, so if u lug it, u have to change gears and throttle on your own again.
I thought that cruise control on a manual trans was ridiculous at first but my '03 5.4L/6-speed came with it and it's great. There's very few hills that my truck won't climb in OD. Occasionally there's a big hill where I have to downshift to avoid lugging the engine but usually, I set it at 60 mph and don't touch it at all. As soon as you press the clutch (or the brakes of course), the cruise control disengages.
for those hills u KNOW it will lug....
just cheat and give it some throttle BEFORE the hill if u can....
I used to do it all the time to save the downshift :-)
Not that I was usually going slow enough that ANY hill would lug.... but :-)
yes, the factory air bag goes back into place. the kits shown on ebay, with the ford part number, is the same as if u had factory installed cruise. same steering wheel and everything. its a great deal cause the steering wheel alone is like 150 list from ford, and the kit lists for about 360. i am hoping to get the 175 deal for my truck soon, otherwise i am gonna have to fork over the 275-300 deals i have seen.
