My 97 4.0 SOHC is coming up with error codes 0302, 0304, 0305. I just changed the plugs. I am about to replace the plug wires and run some injector cleaner through her. I am hoping it is not the coil pack. Does anyone have any other ideas, tips, advice? Thanks
When I got those codes a couple of weeks ago on my '97 SOHC (actually had mis-fire codes on all cylinders except # 4) I found that my MAF sensor had came loose at the intake hose. I had a huge air-leak between the MAF and the throttle body. I tightened up the hose clamp and cleared the code. It hasn't came back since.
reberhardt: Thanks for the reply. I didn't even think about it, but I replaced the air filter when I did the plugs and maybe I knocked something loose around the MAF. I'll check it also.
Hi there I was just wondering what your scanning your truck with because here in Canada there is no scanners available for that year of truck. That was the year Ford used new computers in those trucks and for the life of me I can't find a scanner. markg1@execulink.com
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Nov-02 AT 03:27 AM (EST)]I use an AutoXray OBD-II scanner. Their web-site is www.autoxray.com. They have a link to several places you can get in on-line. I picked mine up locally at a place called Checker Auto Parts. Here is the link to my scanner http://64.78.43.239/default.aspx?menu=shop&sub=scanners&id=2. Also, if you are just looking for a cheap OBD-II code reader that doesn't have any diagnostics capabilities Harbor Freight Tools has one for $49 ($39 when they put it on sale). It is a small box that plugs directly in to your OBD-II port and has 4 LEDs on it to display the codes. Here is the link to it (it is on sale right now) http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=46030.
