noise problem! i need help...
I have an old 1989 ranger 2X4 V-6 2.9l M5OD (manual transmission). (sorry for my english...) Soemtimes, when the truck is hot and i have to keep out my little fishing boat out of water, i hear a big noise from the clutch or something else. It's like to pieces of metal who are rubbing one on one. The clutch is not at the end of life (maybe 50000kms and i take care of that). The mecanic man said thats it was the clutch bearing. He change it but it doesn't change my problem; it still there. he said he never hear that before. He's sure that is not the clutch and the pilot bearing... Can someone please help me?

If it sounds like metal on metal, it sure seems like either the clutch disc or flywheel. There isn't much else in there that can make a noise like that. Did you see the flywheel and clutch plate? Were there any cracks or "blue" metal on either one? If all is well with the clutch, about the only other possibility is a bearing in the transmission. Did your mechanic check it out while he had it out of the truck? Keep us posted.
