So I was thinking...

I can't make it to the meet/greet... but I wanted to be there in spirit... and I saw a truck today that made me wonder if it was one of the local members (brand new Lariat f-350 black/tan) and got to thinking... if only there were some way to know...

So I thought about this, let me know what you think...
A small sticker (or a big one if you really want)... something along the lines of

Thinking on a clear background it would fit nicely near the inspection sticker... small and out of the way, but we'd recognize it right away...

I don't know, it was just something I thought up this morning, what do you guys think?

I dont think its a bad idea at all. But I must say I'm still very partial to the poll we had a while back. Still like to see it come around.

hey hey! That's what I was looking for earlier! (and aparently more than 20 seconds was spent on it ) Would anyone's feelings be hurt if I looked into something in the range of a 2"x3" windshield sticker?

Or even a 4x6 or so for back windows. I wish somebody would get that very nice picture hooked up and out as a sticker. I guess thats something somebody can get rolling if Steve doesnt mind his work being used.

I'd hit that. Let me know if they come into production...wouldn't mind one on my front windshield. I'm not much on stickers on the back window, except'n for my Texans cling sticker

I know what ya mean about hte back window stickers. The only sticker I've had on my back windows have been IAFF (firefighters union), OBX and PI national seashore stickers. I can see a FTE sticker fitting in. Other than those....I think they are generally annoying. Oh, and maybe my "I love DPS" sticker.

So far I've found one company that can do it, have to order 150 though... how many of us are there? If I can get the cling stuff would you rather have that?

thinking hurts so be careful with that! ;-) anyway, i'm alright about stickers in the back window.. my 85 had tons of them.. all of them expressing some part of my attitude and in a way gave my truck attitude too. i refused to put them somewhere my vision was blocked but i had around 15 on it. i've only got three on my 79. my fte sticker, my friends don't let friends drive chevy's sticker, and a cross outline flaming flag type design (like the flames are colored in with the flag colors) and it's a clear see thru but it's on the top right underneath the interior light where it shines thru when i open the door. that's where i had the "boys lie" sticker on my 85 where the light would shine thru... but .. i grew up since then .. i had my 85 in high school and college.

if we're looking for a sticker so that we can identify our fellow fte'ers going down the road, we'll need to get something big enough to see from a distance at speed but not detract from the trucks... i'd put the one shaped like a state above my mirror but i'd love to have it on the back by the fte sticker. maybe a flag shaped one for the back and then one of those banner looking shade type stickers to go across the front at the top that says something like Texas FTE .. simple but obvious enough to see and people would ask what's fte that way .. get some name recognition out there. you can get those at the parts house where you can pick what message you want it to say across the windshield like that.. i'm not sure exactly how they work cuz i never had a reason. if we could find a place that did them like that with a cool easy to read scripty type font instead of the generic block letters that would be cool. i'd go for that quick but that's just me! i know some people don't like those things. just another idea for the stew pot so come back on that and i'll do some more looking to see what kind of different things are already out there... .

So far, then, the suggestions are
Small sticker for the front, medium sticker for the back, and banner for the front?

I'm wondering how important it is to be able to tell who's who from a mile away... I deffinitely see it as a conversation-starter... but there aren't many conversations at 60mph (though I have had two in the past week, that was akward...)
my thought was formed in a gas station parking lot though, so I'd like to hear more views... maybe do a small sticker for the front, medium sticker for the back, and let people do the banners on their own if they want? Last I saw, lot discounts weren't as great for the banners...

conversations on the fly are crazy!! i've done that before. i've had people follow me becuz they read a sticker on the hwy, they follow me to a gas station or whereever i stop at to tell me hey cool sticker (people up here are way too bored i think) ... i was just thinking more like you cld recognize people to give a wave .. not really looking for conversation on the road.. i was thinking more like just giving a wave and then maybe come online to see who it was .. whatevre.. i live to far away from anyone else anyway so it really wouldn't matter.. there's only one other guy here in lubbock that i know of in the past coupla years so .. anywayz..

I must be honest and say I am no fan of the windshield banners. But hey, thats just me.
As he requested in the Logo Poll thread..... Let us not forget Ken still needs to approve of our design choice before we venture into logo production. I have sent him an e-mail asking if the logo SHartman designed is fine with him. I am sure partial to that design. I think it looks very professional.
I looked into the http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/ Ken suggested to us earlier in the year. Once Ken approves the logo, we can individually order stickers, coffee mugs, shirts, hats or whatever from cafepress.com. I havent found larger stickers on their site as of yet. But it sure is a handy way of getting things printed up. I have played around with SHartmans logo design and cafepress products. Pretty simple process. Stickers for $2.49 and mugs for 10.99 I think.
As Ubermich, I too am getting some prices from local printers here in my area. Hope to have some answers sometime Wednesday or Thursday.
