Just purchased a used 1999 ford explorer XLS I am assuming do to information I’ve received that I do not have remote keyless entry installed. Does any one know how difficult it is to install the system your self or can anyone tell me where the sensor might be located? instead of going to the dealer..
I just bought a 2002 Sport Trac that has power locks but no alarm or keyless entry. I purchased a Ford brand add on security system off the web [link:www.powercallsirens.com/security.shtml]. It should be in in time for me to install it this weekend. Hang on a few days and I'll let you know how it goes. If this goes well next I'm going to try to add cruise control.
Anyone with questions about installing anything electronic should go see what they have to say on the12volt.com message board. I am not advocating leaving this one, unless maybe you're a Chevy boy...but if you need general or specific information on installing anything electronic in a car/truck, this site has loads of info. Hope it helps...
OK. I got the alarm system and immediately realized that it was a LOT more complicated than I realized to install. I'm having a professional install it on Monday. By the way, that "Ford" brand aftermarket alarm is really a Code Alarm brand with a Ford logo. I still think its a good deal. $190.00 for the alarm and $100.00 for the install still beats the $371.00 the dealer wanted to charge me. Ohg well. Live & learn.
