Recently I posted about my wandering loaded truck which is a 1972 250 HD special 2wd. I fixed the suspension, that helped the wandering when loaded problem. You know that joint before the PS box thats bolted together and has the little metal nub n'stuff on it?? Well that little nub moves around, the joint is not tight. IF I move the sterring wheel with the wheels making lots of resistance the joint does not hold true.
Is this a problem? Is that jiont supposed to have play in it??
Is there a way to tighten the steering box? I think its probaly got some play aswell.
The rag joint that your talking about I think that some of them are just made
wrong the pins (nubs) I think they are under size! When I am going to replace
one of the rag joints I go to the parts stores and look at different brands
also I look at some for other cars, look around some you will find one that fits
the slots on the column.
THink I'm gonna weld a sleeve over the pin for the rag joint problem. How do I tighten the steering box?? Its got the power assist unit in there if that matters...
