Frame support for front cab mount
please forgive for posting same thing in a new post. My front cab frame
support. The u shaped metal supports that stick out on the frame have rusted out, where the rubber bushing will sit. The diameter of the hole is now
about 4 inches across. I'm gonna weld 3/16 plate underneath the supports
to plug the gap. Does this sound like a good fix and will I need to just drill
a hole the size enough for the new bushing bolt?
Thanks
It should go over the top, not the bottom. That is how I did it with my BII. If you do it from underneath you are welding to thin and weak metal. If you put a piece of metal that completely covers the top of the mount, you are using the thicker good vertical pieces of metal for support.
I would try to sandwich the old metal. Nice piece of 1/4 on top welded and a piece of 1/8 or 12 guage welded to the bottom after removing all the old rusty stuff.

Usually that is all that is needed on F-100/F-150s.
