I've been debating installing the kevlar brake pads mentioned in other postings or trying out the Kleen Wheels dust shields. Anyone have any experience with these shields? I'm sick of cleaning these wheels every few days!
best 36 dollars ive spent in a long time no brake dust at all anymore
Your lazy!
I painted my calipers and rotors, so it looks good! Don't want to hide that. But kleen wheels seems to keep proper ventilation from reaching your brake components, so that and looking good is the only reason i would not use them.
It's funny. Ford Dealers sell Kleen Wheels at the counter of their parts dept around here but my friend had them on his Toyota and the dealer tried to say that they voided his warranty when he had warped rotors. Not to worry. The easy solution? Take them off and take your warranty work to another dealer.
Just a quick note boys, if the dealership sells the part it can not void a warranty. I once argued and won a case for my husband after reading an article in automotive news that says if it is either a part authorized or sold by the dealer it will not void a warranty. The dealerships dont want you to know this. My husband had a short shift kit put in his ride and they tried to say that was why his tranny went out! Ha! try tellin that to someone who works parts for a living!
To be safe I purchased the porterfield break pad. It took about 15 minutes a wheel and man have I been pleased. The break dust is virutally gone and breaking is a little better. When I changed out the old pads I was amazed at how much metal was in the pads. The factor pads are highly metalic.
