a4ld problem
93 aerostar 3.0 a4ld
when you start it it sounds like a connecting rod is knocking...only on aceleration of motor...van wants to move a little bit in park...van will drive but it seems like when it goes into overdrive is spits fluid out..lands on exaust and smokes...trans fluid is not burnt..this is kids van now..so i dont want to sink alot into it ..could this be just a converter???

Sounds like flex plate is broke, also front seal is bad,could be due to flex plate.If not plate front seal is just bad. Mine went on me was driving it hard on heavy roads on hot weather with air on also. gauge didnt show warm or anything just started to pump fluid out cause of over working it.Needless to say awhile later it was history.Replacfd it with one from junk yard. These trannys cant not take much hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would check to see if the shift linkage is moving enough and is putting the trany in the gear you selected. it may show that it is in park inside on the console but the linkage is out of adjustment so the trany is not in the right position. do you check the trany fluid level when the motor is at operating temp or check it when its cold
