Hey Folks.. Well bad news, I realized the rear tires on my truck and damn near bald! Time for new tires.. Im looking at Liberators from Wally World, I had them on my dodge ram and they had great traction.. I dont want anything huge because I dont really do much with the truck.. They're about $90 a piece.. Not bad for a good All Terrain tire.. Ive used them for years on old blue.. Question, I have 255/70/16 on now.. Im looking at the LT265/75/16.. Its 1.5in bigger (height wise) then the stock tires on now.. That shouldnt kill me too much in MPG? I want a fuller tire because I swear my truck looks like its on bicycle tires right now lol..
Stormin, with a tire that's 1.5" taller, you truck will feel like the rear end is .15 "taller", or lower numerically. If you have a 3.55 rear end, then it will feel like a 3.40. 3.08 will feel like a 2.93. As far as gas mileage - if you do a lot of city driving then gas mileage may very well go down as the motor has to lug more to get up to speed. If you do a lot of highway driving, then gas mileage may go up as you motor will turn slower for any given speed.
Awesome highway tire for these trucks, and it was recommended out of the blue by two guys that own tire shops. I ordered a set but haven't gotten them on yet so I can't comment.
I Use The Bridgestone Dueler At Revo's On Mine. They're Great Dry, Wet, And Even Good If You Get Into An Occasional Patch Of Mud. They're Pretty Quiet On The Highway And Have Been Wearing Excellent. 100% Better Than The Factory Bfg Long Trail's.
Technically, the power is the same. Tires don't affect the power of the motor. But taller tires means it will take slightly longer to get to the power band of the motor, which for my truck is somewhere around 2500-2600 RPMs. HTH.
