Check engine light?

I have a 93 ranger with a 3.0. Lately it has been occasionally throwing a check engine light. Sometimes the light stays on for awhile and other times it may stay on for a few seconds then go off and then come back on. It seems to run good when warmed up but sometimes when the egine is cold it will idle good but when you go to take off it will bog down. I used a volt meter and performed the KOEO tests and got no codes then after it flashed the 111 seperator code I got a 172 code and a 167 code. I was not able to perform the KOER tests because my haynes manual says that it requires a timing light and I do not have one. According to my manual a code 167 means Insufficient throttle position sensor change during Dynamic response check. A code 172 means system indicates lean bank #1, I am assuming this means an o2 sensor is bad on the driver's side? And possibly a bad TPS sensor? Can anyone tell me what my next step should be? Should I replace the TPS sensor and the O2? Any other suggestions? Sorry for the long post! Thanks Bob

Bank#1 is on the passenger's side. You may want to to a voltage check on the TPS before replacing it.

I just ran my truck and while it was up to operating temp I figured I would pull the codes again with the engine off. I got the 167 and 172 again but this time I also got a 157 which means MAF below minium voltage and I also got a 182 which means adaptive fuel limit lean at idle. Any ideas what could cause these codes? I will go check the voltage of the TPS right now. Thanks Bob

For the 167, did you goose it when prompted?

I have the 182 as a rich cod for bank 1.

I can send you the pinpoint tests for the codes but you'll need abreakout box. Keep in mind that an intake/exhaust leak, low/high fuel pressure can mess with the mixture.
