In response to hard rain and electrical problems 2000 Excursion. Had the same problem. Door locks opening and closing, lights flashing etc. There was and is a leak which somehow gets in and dripped on the fuse box under the dash. It was'nt around the window and then we thought it was the pan under the window.
Its not. Short of it I covered the fuse box with plastic. No more problems with that.
NOW: Dome lights, running lights etc. staying on for a long time running down battery.
Running down battery. Door open lights on. I'm going to try the WD40 and recharge the battery fully. Let you know.
I just bought an 01 X limited at the end of June, many of the same issues. Rebuilt all the door lock actuators with the foil trick. Replaced all but one door ajar sensor and found a broken wire in between the door and frame that was causing the door ajar problems. I just removed the relay from the fuse box under the dash until I got those fixed. The switches should get 11 to 12 volts to the sensor until the switch is depressed then it grounds to almost 0 volts, that;s how I found the bad wire. There's a good write up in the tech forum on this issue. Also found several posts were the fuse box has a generic electric module (GEM) above it that gets wet due to leaks and causes the majority of issues you guys are seeing.

Well not sure if the rain had any thing to do with it now. I think it was just a wierd coincidence that these problems occured after rain storm. I took some buddies to lunch yesterday and as we were leaving my back seat passenger couldnt get in without squeezing so i backed up for him to get in, when i did he noticed i had no reverse lights? When I got home I investigated, found the reason for all my issues!
The wire harness that travels over the front drive shaft under the drivers side floor pan had fallen from its plastic clip hole and was worn through from dive shaft friction
After a closer look sure enough there were 3 wires that were completly broken i half and another three that were missing insulation and copper strands were exposed! Well a little surplus wire, some solder, and a roll of electrical tape, problem solved. I used some wire, zip ties, and more electrical tape to seure harness up and away from diveshaft.
Now my 4wd solenoid, reverse lights, OD light flashing, SES light on, issues have all stopped. 4wd works like it should now, reverse lights function as designed and no more SES or OD light flashing.
I would recomend all owers investigate this wire harness ad secure for exra insurance.
I'll keep you all posted if ay of the original issues return. BTW- the X has been sitting i some torential rain for the last 3-4 days and the issue never repeated itself, thats how I concluded the rain had nothing to do with it. Allthough I did reseal windshield before all this rain?
Well it happened again about a month ago. The OD light started flashing and then like two days after the truck stopped starting due to a corroded ground strap from the battery to the body. The corrosion had worked its way into the main ground cable as well, not all the way in just where they were touching at the post connection.
After a good cleaning cutting back on the main cable and replacing the ground strap cable truck starts fine now.
Been about a month since the repair and no OD light flashes or other weird electrical problems.
Some times it's the small things we overlook because from the outside they look fine.
