It seesm to be down to the two choices. The FelPro that you have or the Victor Nitro-seal from NAPA.
I've run the fel_pro and they looked OK for me. Once on a 390 with iron heads and next on the FE446 with Edel al. heads (but it didn't run for very long before I was back in, so teh gasket didn't see much use, <1000 miles).
I used the Fel-pros, about 12 years ago, to put my 390 together with the Edelbrock Performer 390. I only used a very small amount of RTV around the water hole ...
I DID have intake gasket problems the first time, but that was because the stock intake bolts bottomed out in the holes and there was not enough torque on the intake. Be careful and check that you have a good 1/4" or more (guys? what would you suggest?) leeway on the bolt length.
a 1/4 of an inch should be plenty. i would use black rtv and put it around the water ports. i also put rtv at each corner of the end gaskets. don't go overboard with the stuff though !
One thing i leaned is to never use a valley gasket just a nice bead of black rtv and ive never had leaks. I got tire of pulling my boat anchor intake off and fixing the leak that those valley gaskets let by.

I second that emotion, even though my intake is currently shedding oil out the back.
The cork gaskets squeeze out, and in my case, the block/heads and intake were decked enough that the cork didn't fit anymore...
i used the cork end seals and copper silicone and right now i have oil pouring out the back of the intake, this is the second time ive had to pull the intake off, i dont know what ill use this time, it squished the cork gaskets out this last time, any ideas what i should try now.
well ive been told the rubber ones are better but i dont see how myself. As long as everything lines up good ie: (no warpage) for some reason, black rtv has always done me good. A nice thick bead all the way across.
A trick that always works for me is to use weatherstrip adhesive 3M 80110. only on the block side of the cork. The stuff will hold the cork in place even with decked blocks and shaved heads.....d44hd
