10K mod confusion

Can someone help me? I am trying to do the 10 K mod and when I plug it to the blue with green stripe and grey with red stripe wires my check engine light turns on and then turns off when I turn the key to run, but when I start it the check engine light comes on. I tried the different combos but only one of them actually keeps the check engine light off. The only problem is that it doesn't feel like I have got any extra power at all and the truck still idles like normal. Can someone help me figure this thing out and if the check engine light staying on while running is normal or not.

Are you sure you have the right wires, and make sure you are getting a good connection.
Ive had mine in for about 6 months. No engine lights, and the RPMs at idol are about 1100.

Which wires are they??? I would like to do this. I was gonna install an idol controller, but that 1100 sounds pretty good.

I slep during that class.
Man, do a search in this forum on [10k resistor] and there are some pics along with instructions on how to install (not sure which one).
Ive also heard that you can install them backwards??? Dont know about that(how do you know which side is which).
one moer thing ive also heard not to let the ends of the resistor meet (touching, metal surface, ect.).

Hope this helps a little
Harry

Backwards huh.... Anyone know about this. I just did it and I noticed a bit of a gain but my idle is unaffected, I believe. Will I be alright without gauges if I dont tow anything???? Or should I disconnect this and wait till I get a pyro gauge??? The truck has a 4" turbo back str8 pipe, if that helps any.

No, resistors are not polarized, so you can't put them in backwards. I don't know about the diesel, but there is NO ADVANTAGE to the IAT mod with a gas engine, just the disadvantage of throwing a CEL!!!
