Smoke?

I've got a 99 7.3 superduty with 116,000. Runs perfect, but I notice that when I sit in traffic for a long time or follow a long line of slow traffic when I mash the accelarator I see black smoke pour out the exhaust. Is this just burnt fuel or oil?

Fuel I would think. If it was the good ole blue I would think otherwise. ENJOY the black smoke.

Sound like its running fine if thats all its doing. As long as your not getting blue(engine oil)smoke your fine.

i would say you are ok. Might want to run some power service through it, otherwise everything sounds normal.

I think its a normal, but most people don't notice. While sitting there for however long, fuel is going to build up in the cylinders with no boost to help burn it. All thats happening is that you are burning it all on take off..... It may be a little more pronounced with the mileage (not very high by the way), but normal. I've noticed mine doing it on occasion with only 25,000mi...
