I understand the arguments. It does have some validity. If you think about it, regardless of the weatherstripping seal above the box, there are open areas. According to the tech. hot air is introduced into the box. I looked at it closely and came to the conclusion that the cold air clearly outweighs the hot air introduced into the system. I am going to keep the airaid sytem and do my own trial test. I will oil it lightly. If anyone has anymore pros/cons keep 'em coming!

you want to oil the filter per the instructions if you dont put enough oil on it, it will not filter properley, and dirt getting by the filter will hurt the engine

I really couldn't make out what the picture is showing. I see a tape measure, but nothing definitive. Can you explain what you did?

The wrapping....good idea. The opening of the path, bad. If I am not mistaken, that is a clear path to the exterior of the grille. Great idea until it rains and your driving. I am pretty sure that it sucks "some" water into the box. Did you have to drill drain holes in the bottom? Maybe I am missing the whole concept of what you are trying to accomplish.

Talking Ah Ha...

Good idea. Where did you say you got the wrapping and the foam sock? I know that without a dyno, it is hard to visually see power gains. Did you notice a difference once you put the inake on? By the way, do you have exhaust on yours?

I have a K & N on my 2001, 5.4 and when I had it in for no idle, Figured it was the A.I.R. valve. They said my M.A.F. sensor was bad from oil from the K & N. I got hot but what could I do? 300 or so bucks later I was on my way, so I called K & N and after some talking they picked up half the bill for the MAF replacement, Dam nice of them, I will buy more of there products!

Get real.

You NEVER see any "Ram Air" effect from a Zoodad mod or a truck not capable of at least 110MPH. (Where it begins to become effect on motorcycles.) Plus, the air box isn't designed for pressurization (which is what Ram Air is all about).

And finally, with all the wrapping and socks and crap, you might as well just put the darn paper filter back on there! Flow is probably the same...

Where did I say that I was pressurizing the box.
What does the wrapping have to do with flow.
And you are entitled to your opinion
