Welcome to FTE! And congradulations on the purchase of your new family member.
The beds from '40-47 should be the same as yours. There are 1 or 2 guys here who have or at least thought about using the beds from '48-'52 which are the same size but use a differnt more square fenders simular to the fronts ('51 went to flat sides). They don't mount the same way but shouldn't be that hard to get them on. As far as I know the '53-'7? are the same dimintions as the '51-'52 flatsided but the fenders have a different bolt pattern, in '57 the fenders stayed the same style but were moved a few inches lower on the side of the bed.
Would love to here more about the condition of the truck and maybe see some picture. Good luck!
Welcime to FTE and to the 47 and Older forum!!!! If you are looking to keep it stock looking new beds are available. I have found this site very friendly and really helpful so any questions you have feel free to ask and I'm sure that lots of people will help. Again welcome!!!!!!!!!!!

The beds from a '40-'41 are not the same, in '42 Ford went to a wider bed, so it looks they look the same, but they are different. '42-'mid '50 are the same, except in '48 the fender bolt pattern is different for the rear fenders. I have a '51 bed on one of my '46's that I am building, and it does bolt right to the frame, but it is flatsided, so the fenders are different. Also note that the '42-'47's are the only ones with the spare tire carrier welded to the side of the bed, if you wanted stock, you'd have to add one to a later bed. Alt brackets for the flathead 8 are easy to find, check out a speed shop, like http://www.speedwaymotors.com for one, they also have all the other info you need to make the alt conversion go easily.
Complete beds are available from Mack Hils in MO. who also wrote a nice book on early fords.
We were just at "Back to the Fifties" with our very orginal 47 1/2ton 54k miles pickup---lots of fun enjoyed all the comments on our orginal farm truck.

The numbers you give show a 1946 V8 1 ton truck. The 1 tons used a longer & wider bed than the 1/2 tons, and I don't think anybody is currently making a 1 ton replacement bed. The interchange should still be the same as stated in previous posts.
Hello my friends you all have been some good help. I would like to know what a bed would run for this 1946 ford 1 ton pick up truck or do they make them.
Don't think I've ever seen a 1 ton bed reproduced, usually just the 1/2 tons. You could always put a stake body on it, Northern Classic trucks makes a stake bed kit, should work on the 122" WB 1 ton frame. But if you really want to keep the pickup bed, then you'll have to find a good used bed. I've seen whole 1 ton trucks with decent sheetmetal go for decent prices on eBay...might look into that.
I have a 1987 ford ranger front suppention will it bolt up to my 1946 1 ton front end it got the late model suppention I belive twinn I beem I think please help me and I would thank you all.
Old thread. If the new member has a one ton the same guidance applies as before. None are being repop’d. The more common 48-52 Express 8’ beds are the same and can be used, but fender studs would need to be moved to the earlier locations if early style fenders can be found. I got lucky and found a nice original bed and acceptable fenders for my 47. Stu
