Parking Break

Hey everyone,
I need help either finding, or figuring out an alternative for the right rear parking break cable on my 70' F-250 Camper Special. It broke a while ago and I can't get a new inspection sticker without one(the sticker ran out in May). I called every parts dealer I could find, yielding no positive results. I was thinking that I could just replace both sides with cables fitted for regular F-250's, without the extended wheelbase, then re-adjust the equilizer to make up for the shortercable. I dont know if that would work however, because I don't know the actual difference in wheel bases. All I know is that the Camper Special cable needs to be 69 21/32" long. I know im new here, but any help would be great appreciated as i am trying to get the truck legal by July 3rd so that i can make the local 4th of July parade.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Have you tried looking at our sponsors site's for a Brakecable ?

Break = Break something , coffee break,Time off.
Brake = Brakes on my truck

If our sponsors don't have one,I have another place to try.

Wow Mil1ion, I think that's one of the dumbest things I've done in a while !! Yes I have looked through the sponsors with no luck. I also talked to my local dealer who said that Ford doesn't even make the part anymore. One of the parts dealers i spoke to said that I would probably have to have one custom made, but I have no idea where to go. If you have another idea that would be great!!

How long is the cable that you need? You can frequently put the longer E-series cables on trucks that do not list an application. If the cable housing is intact it is fairly easy to make your own cable. Ford specific sites such as James Duff even offer universal kits that fit Fords.

look for a cable or belting company or a telepone linemans supply store in the yellow pages and call them up and ask if they deal in NICO PRESS cable products. If they don't have nico press ask them for somting similar. There are a lot of places that do this. when I make cables the cable is about .70 cents a foot for stainless and the swage fittings are about a dollar a piece. So I think that $10-20.00 bucks would be a fair price for one of these.

Thanks to everyone for the input!! I have ordered a universal cable from James Duff. Although it is only listed as fitting Broncos, the 1970 F-250 and Bronco share the same rear drum brakes . If this cable does not end up working, then I will go the custom route, and see where that takes me. Thanks again!

Just another possibility, -some custom motorcycle shops also have the tooling and materials to make custom cables.
