Ive got an 01/o1/03 truck ,I see alot of posts about the c94 injectors, are the problems mechanical or electrical,by the time I smell fuel in the oil, Ive allready washed the bearings. What was the symptom, before the dealer sighted the injectors as the problem.
And when the injectors leak, the excess fuel runs past the piston rings, dilutes the oil, and bad things happen. I check the oil leel at least every fill-up, and often in between. If it rises, or I smell diesel fuel on the dipstick, I know there's a probelm. 01/03 engine, 32,000 miles so far no injector failures, but I'm still testing every oil change.
25,000 on my C-94s with no problems. It seems that the guys who have problems with them have the problem very early. Has anyone had problems after 20,000 or so?

I think that is a very importatn point
Therefore, with the above in mind; when taking your truck in for maintenance, should you want to allow a dealer to do the work, remember to insure that the comments noted below, be placed on the work order......
Not withstanding anything to the contrary contained herein,
I do not authorize any flashing/reflashing of any of this
Truck's computers; This prohibition is of the essence.
Just A Thought...............on...............My Perceptions................
I was not aware that the reflash had anything to do with the C-94 injectors going bad.
I bought my truck in 5/03, with a 3/03 engine build date. The dealer immediately replaced the PCM and reflashed under a recall, and the tech said that they thought this was part of the injector problem fix.
I had that same flash, It was before I knew better. That one takes away the Pilot Injection, but I don't think it does squat for curing the problem with the c94's. Their problem is mechanical, the design of the shoulder of the injector makes it succeptible to wear and binding. If you look at a cutaway of the c94 and c95 side to side you can see the difference. I hope the theory that they fail early is right and that I'm past the danger......but I'm still checking the oil.
