Did I do good?

Hey guys... it's been a long time since I've been on here... ole' girl been running pretty respectable... as always... lol. Anyhow... I have a 78' F150 4x4... it has the popular equipped 351M and lets face it they aren't no power house when stock... so I came across a 460... not sure what year it is... I'll have to get the #'s on here for someone to help me out on decoding it... It was sitting ouside in the weather for approximately 14 months... one spark plug was missing... umm... exhaust manifolds are off... and umm.. carb was not covered... I brought it home and to make a long story short... I pulled oil plug... and I bet 2 gallons of water drained out. I figured the thing would be rusty as all get out when I pulled the pan, but it honestly isn't that bad... some emory paper work will fix her up there I think.. still in the process of dismantling it so not totally positive yet... Now the top end is still together so I can't say much about that yet... but will tell when I uncover the beast... from the underside of the cylinder walls look like I can get away with honing.. hopefully...now I'm definately gonna get the block and heads dipped and crack checked but how much should I be worried about the block being cracked from the water that layed in it... cause it would of froze in the winter time here. but that aside I payed a 100 dollars for the complete motor 4v holley carb and all.. not that it looks like much hope of salvaging. But someone tell me if I at least did all right?? I hope so... oh and it did come out of a box van I do believe.. I know the sump for the pan is in the rear like I need it.. and the mounts are on the motor... these mounts are these what I need for the swap??? the rubber in them is junk.. what can I do about this? Thanks all for who replies to this... I really appreciate this...

Well what you have is a core.... with all the brakets and goodies. for $100. In my neibourhood that's a good deal. ymmv. Your going to want to hot tank as much as you can to reduce the elbo work and make sure you get into everywhere. I don't think I would use the pistons so I would just go ahead and punch it out .030 and use 30 over flat tops.

hope some of that helps

Well I got the top end tore off of it.. and well.. in the oil gallery there was a lot of build up of crud. Cylinders are probably gonna need to be bored... gotta clean them up and see how well they turn out, all I did tonight was tear stuff off. Although I did find something well kinda depressing... the pistons are .040 over.. so this doesn't give me much to play w/ if I ever score a cylinder in the future... b/c I'd prolly have to bore it to .060 now??? and then the sleeves would be pretty thin then right? I'm gonna have to have the heads done which I was already gonna do. In complete honesty the motor is better then I thought it would be after all that water came out... lol. I figured it'd be a total loss. All well.. tommorrow, if i get the chance I'll knock the pistons out and take the crank, cam, and lifters outa her... So hopefully I'll have some replies by then... thanks guys.
