Whose had good luck with the 6.0?
I've been looking at a brand new 04 F250 with the 6.0 diesel, but after reading some of these threads, I'm a little concerened about the reliability of these new engines!
Can someone shed some light?

So you kept reading the same thing form the same people
Really they are great and yes there has been some "resolved" issues early models.................like mine, no problems at all...........mostly.
I've had GREAT luck and love my truck. See sig for spec's.
Don't let the bad threads turn you away just on their basis. Use them as a learning tool. Do your home work. Know what quetions to ask. Know what to look for good and bad.
If you really read these forums you will find really good people. Really good trucks. And with some exception really good carma... man.
Warning: Some opinions may be closer than they appear.
I will say this though. Some of the bad have been VERY bad.

Good luck and thanks for askin'
I will agree with that, when you get a stinker it is a bad one.
Then Ford buys it back and you are happy again.
The ones with problems have been fixed.
I am getting ready to embark on yet another trip to the coast with my early 03 F250 6.0 pulling my boat. I am more concerned whether I will have sufficient ice for the beer and fish to fill the cooler.
It's a great truck. Be cool with the dealer. Make them your friend. It pays.
Sort of, but I can't tell you exactly which. In general, folks with earlier build dates have had (posted on this site) more problems. Not everyone with an early truck has had a problem. And not everyone with a later build date is troublefree. This is a generality.
I wanted you to know that just becuase the truck is an '04, doesn't mean it won't have issues. It may be more likely to if it's a very early '04. These trucks get incrementally better.
Still, your chance of problems is slim, and like others have said: get it, you'll love it. And if there are issues, know your dealer and know that we're here!

I agree. I have an early 04 x that has been pretty much trouble free. It's been taken in for a clunking noise but apart from that, no major issues. I would suggest driving a couple first before settling on one. I drove three for 24 hours tests and three more the day I purchased. Each one was slightly different - sound, feel, ride. I purchased the one that seemed to be the quietest, smoothest, and relatively squeak free. I think I made a good choice as the diesel tech at my servicing dealership (not where I purchased from) has commented to me how quiet mine is compared to the others he has worked on.
When he says watch build dates... he MUST be refereing to used 03 models...
but I too have one of the "problematic" engines based on build date... and all I ask is come over here for a ride... or at least check my gallery for the dyno charts posted there.... @ 29K+ miles - it's even more fun than when I bought it !
