power adjustable pedals question

Anyone know about the power adjustable pedals in the new 04 bodystyle? Do they only move 3 inches towards the driver or do they also move 3 inches back towards the engine? I'm tall and would be interested in them if they moved back towards the engine at all...but I suspect they don't go back any further than regular pedals are already placed.

Not sure of the travel further forward than any other truck. I have them and day one I moved them forward all the way. I am 6'4" and have ample room. Might jump in a XLT and measure the pedal.

6'4''...I'm 6'3'' and I have such a hard time getting my knees under the steering wheel to press the brake pedal since it doesn't really tilt on the new model...especially since I hold the wheel at the bottom with one hand most of the time...my knee hits either the wheel or my hand. Oh well.

I have an 03 F150 now, maybe I'll keep it. I can slide my foot under the pedals easily when I use cruise. Can't do it in the 04 model nearly as comfortably.

I'm 6'3" and keep them down (towards the engine) as far as they'll go. Quite comfy that way.

I do hate that about the new f150, is why it doesn't have a true tilt wheel !!!!

Wow...someone willing to measure something. That's service on the message board for sure.

Anyway, yeah, I think the tilt wheels are probably less safe so that's probably why its changed to a tilting column instead.

I bought my XLT 5.4L SCab off the lot and the power pedal option was the only thing on it that I would not have ordered. Turns out that it's GREAT.
I drive the truck 95% of the time and one of my kids uses it the rest of the time. Picking up pet supplies (we have a lot of pets) and helping friends move.

I always fussed when she used my truck because the seat adjustment was all messed up. It seemed like it took me a week to get it adjusted back to "just right."

One day I remembered the pedal adjustment "useless" option and showed it to her. It solved the problem. Her arm reach was fine, she is shorter than me and she just needed to reach the pedals.
She adjusts pedals all the way forward, I adjust all the way back-seat stays the same. No more fussing about looking for "just right."

She's happy, I'm happy. No more fussing or frustration for either of us. All this for a $125 option. What a deal!

She is shorter than me-I'm 6' 1". I think that the pedals come mostly forward because my height is closer to the typical driver for which the truck was designed. Other vehicles that I have checked power vs. standard pedals seemed to me to add about 1" back and 2" closer with the power option. Haven't sat in an 04 F150 with standard pedals, though.

the way I have always understood it, and it seemed to prove out on my mercury Sable...when the pedals are all the way forward this is the same as the standard fixed pedals. The adjustment is ONLY towards the driver (for shorter people).
