I'm just guessing, but I think by the time you bought all the Lightning stuff you probably could have just traded your truck in for a Lightning. You can find a used 99 or 00 for under $20k.
Well, actually no, the truck was a grad gift from my family....But you're right, I have well over $4 grand into the body of this truck, and with the price of it plus the lightning parts plus the other mods I've done, I'd be sitting pretty at about 30K...

I personally like the the color of the new mustangs that are that carcoal grey. It will stand out if kept waxed. isn't black so iperfections will not stand out. dark color and will not look dirty 2 days after washing it, etc... As far as the motor goes, go around town and find a quality shop that can build a motor to your driving style, whether for straight drag or maybe something of what the nascar series trucks are running. Be original. May want to consider a scheme paint job. All that work just for a solid green truck.
I too dont see anything wrong with making an L clone AS LONG AS you keep teh L badges off and dont try to pass it off as a lightning.. I too have the factory ford L body kit for my 03 reg cab flairside and the truck was also a graduation gift.. But i have a friend taht works for ford, as the service parts manager so i got all my body pieces at 10-15% off of what the Dealer paid for it so basically to teh public it was like a 40% off deal. But yah keep those L badges off.. Im shaving all my badges on fenders and tailgate.. actually i plan to shave the whole tailgate , handle and all... but not my door handles though, not anytime soon anyway. I would say its a customized f150 rather than saying its a lightning, or lightning clone.. because making a Lightning is NOT my intention but making my stock truck look beautiful is!
