I got an 89BII 4x4 2.9, Its got the 7.5 rear end i believe, does anybody know how much a limited slip would run me and who makes them???
thx in advance.
Yes, it does have the 7.5 rear end. Any chance it already has a limited slip in it? I'm not sure how frequently, but it seems that Ford put LS's in a lot of these. If you already have the Trac-lock carrier, then you probably just need to replace the clutches.
Often see Trac-lock carriers (Ford's factory limited slip) on ebay. Probably more common for the 8.8, but I wouldn't be surprised to find one for a 7.5 there.
Not certain about aftermarket suppliers. There isn't a lot of demand for aftermarket traction aids for the 7.5 (a lot prefer to put an 8.8 axle in before addind traction aids).
Might also try a junk yard.
They practically give away BII rear ends at the junkyards. Just go and find a LS 3:73 going by the door tag, check it once up on blocks by rotating the wheels, and then pull the cover. You can usually buy the whole axle for $50 since noone really wants them and junkyard is happy to get rid of it.
