i'm new to the boards; so sorry if you've all seen this question before. i did a search and didn't come up with much and thought i'd ask.
i just got a 2003 explorer sport trac with the 4.0L sohc v6. are there recommended performance chips out there that'll give noticeable performance gains? if so, i'd appreciate the info and places to order. thx.
I recommend the Diablo. There are 2 or 3 different style chips they have, so you can choose which one would best suit your needs. As far as where to get one, check with Ken (the webmaster of this site and Motorhaven.com). He can get you whatever chip you are looking for, or a Microtuner if you want to be able to adjust it.
Check through the Computer Chip Forum. Ken has answered alot of questions on the chips - maybe some of the past threads will help you with what you are looking for.
thanks for the reply. it looks like most tuners are for the v8's and up. for the v6's, it looks like we're limited to the chips/modules - no tuners......yet.
superchips has one for the 4.0L; but not sure which diablo chip fits.
I have had both, and prefer the Diablo. Ken can go into detail about the differences better than I can, but I found the Diablo yields better net gains. Plus, Diablo does not charge near as much for reburns as Superchips does now. For what Superchips wants for upgrades and reburns on their chips, you could buy another brand new Diablo.
If you do not have many mods (to the point of having to run 93 octane all the time), you may want to check into the Diablo Delta or Flip Chip. That way you could run 93 when you want, and 87 when just doing some regular driving. I have heard alot of positive things about it.
????? it's not mine. i have yet to decide which way to go. which manufacturer would you recommend and which chip? you can email me directly. thanks ken.
