This just started a week ago or so. I'm noticing popping noises from the steering when I'm turning at low speeds. It seems to be coming not from the lower suspension, but somewhere in the engine compartment. Everything has been maintained and packed with grease and plenty of steering fluid. I'm also the only one that notices it. Everyone else that has been in my truck seem to think I'm crazy and hearing things.

6" superlift, 35" tires (bought it this way a year ago, no problems until now)
I just can't seem to locate the problem. The sound is very faint, but annoying me enough that I just keep wondering if something is going to break soon. Everyone in my family has owned powerstrokes, but the only thing I've ever done on these is maintenance (heh, guess that's a good thing). So working with suspension parts is well... new to me. Add to the fact that I didn't put the lift on this either. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks
Is this when the wheel is only at full or close to full lock turning? You could have either ball joints going bad, hubs in the lock position, or maybe wheel bearings starting to go out. Just some ideas...

It does this at what it seems like at random, either barely turning the wheel or close to full lock in both directions. At first I thought ball joints, but the noise is no where near them, it's up in the engine compartment. I already checked the hubs, but again, the noise isn't even close to that. Kinda weird.
I just thought about something else some of the other cats with lifts have run into on this board. Check your drop pitman arm. Sometimes when they put the lifts on they don't torque it down enough. That thing has to be really really cranked on there, and if you don't you'll get a popping noise. This would also be consistent with being in the engine compartment.
Well I gave it another once over, and everything seems to be buttoned down fine. I guess I'll have the 4x4 shop look at it. I need to align my driveshaft drop bearing anyway, and I haven't been able to get it right by myself.
