Locking Tonneau Cover - dumb?

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but if your tailgate does not lock, can you lock a hard Tonneau cover to secure items inside? In other words, someone can just pull down the tailgate, right?

You're correct. On my 1993 I just put a barrel-bolt on each side of the tailgate. I'd lock the tailgate that way and then lock the actual cover.

Mine goes over the tailgate, so you can't open the gate if the tonneau is closed.

Could I ask what make cover that is? Or anyone else know what make will be best for a non-locking tailgate? Thanks for all responses.

I went with an A.R.E LS II Lid for my Ranger. It covers the top of the tailgate as well, which prevents you from opening it. One of the very reasons I went with a Lid.
