Help decoding Auto X-Ray scanner messages
I have an Auto X-Ray EZ-Link scanner (the $249 mid-range version that can read some live data but w/o the PC Link). I noticed that after I've cleared the codes, the scanner says "Not All Readiness Tests Completed" before it displays the scan results. It did this the last time I cleared codes too, but by the time I needed to scan again it was operating as described in the manual (I.E., it says "All Readiness Tests Completed" before scanning). Anybody know why I get the not all tests completed message? What does it mean anyway? As I said, this is not in the manual, which, as the French say "blows chunks." I emailed their support staff but we'll see if I get a response. I still have 30 days to return the scanner, so I hope they value their customers! =)

The readiness tests it is talking about are the OBDII tests. Everytime you clear the codes these tests reset and you have to drive the vehicle under certain conditions to get them to pass. Some of the tests are: O2 heater circuit, catalyst monitor, evap system, EGR system, misfire detection, etc. Don't worry about trying to get them to pass. They will pass during normal driving. There is nothing wrong with the scanner.
