Tranny help please, and fast.

I submitted this on the tranny forum but I need help fast with what to do so I'm posting here too.

Help me out please.

I just replaces the shifter plugs in my tranny. Everything went as planed with no problems, except one and I hope I didn't ruin it.

After I got the shifter on I pushed in the clutch and tried to shift and it wont shift. It's like it's locked up.

I followed insteuctions to a "T" and left the truck in 1st the whole time.
I don't want to even try and start it for fear I'll realy screw things up.

Help me please.

One thing I forgot to mention was; when I was taking off the shifter I had to pull up on it pretty good and then it "popped" off. Mybe I didn't get the shifter back right? But it went in okay real easy. But the "stick" now that it is on looks lik it is in the nuetral position.

Anyone have some ideas???

Okay, from this same post over at the tranny board it seams like I just have the shifter in the wrong place.

Question is; is there a spring resistance that I need to push to get the shifter in the right slot?

When I put the shifter in I looked down inside with my flashlight and all I could see was one slot that looked like it fit.

Maybe I can take a Macro pic of it tomorow (if I can't figure it out) and post it so you can see what I'm seeing.

You never said what transmission you have. I have a manual for the ZF transmission if that would help you.
