I have a problem with my 83 f250 with a 460 engine my problem is it idles great in park but when in gear it starts to miss especially around 2000 - 1500 rpm on the road. If read other threads here and have taken there advice on it but I still have the same problem.
What I have done is the normal stuff. Changed cap, rotor, spark plugs & wires, ignition coil, vacume leak checked, compression checked, changed voltage regulator, starter switch, egr valve, fuel filter and pressure & volume checked.
The carb is new or should I say remanufactured it ran great for the first 100 miles then I started having problems after one my vacume lines melted that runs to the automatic transmission.
A little frustrated with this problem!!!!! http://

Do you mean the truck ran fine until this happened? What type of carb? Did it backfire through the carb? If it's a Holley it may have damaged the power valve.
It is a holley remanufactured carb. It did run good for that short time til the hose from intake manifold to my automatic transmission melted causing my transmission not to shift. Why would it be the power valve?
Usually a motor will run good while parked but will skip under a load is a indication of poor spark to the plugs!
You did note that one of your vacuum lines melted after you changed the carburetor.
Vacuum lines don't melt unless improperly routed!
Could you have done the same sloppy job routing your plug wires allowing them to burn on the exhaust manifold?

Do you have the duraspark igniton? My 84with a strait 6 does the same thing yours does(sometimes), but it has the tfi-iv system... they just had to f with perfection lol eh? Im rounding up parts to swich it to duraspark... and going to change the weird *** carter carb to the ones that are on my other 300'... to many wires and hoses coming out of that one lol. I run 4speed standards in my two, but my grandpa has an auto, and I seem to recall the pv valve was craped on his, and it ran crappy...
My truck has a duraspark 2 ignition set up. I've heard that the carter carbs are alot better than the holley carbs. Personally if I was doing a bulid up on a older truck I planning on keeping I would go with a edelbrock efi set up.
