O/D button not working.

O/D button not working.
MY 2002 o/d button is not working, I checked under the dash and shorting the wires from the button works fine. ( I can turn on and off the O/D). I have been looking at getting the button out of the shift lever and can see no way to get the end off. twisted, pulled, pryed but it dosent want to open up. any ideas besides getting a shift lever???

Ok, I got it off and the switch is bad. To get it out, pry on the outermost ring with a sharp edge and it will pop off. Now the question is does ford list the switch as a serviceable part. I will check tomorow.

Ok got my switch and it's installed. O\D is working fine now. The Parts guy told me "that is the only the second bad one of those I have seen".
