The passenger side speaker in my friends 93 xlt hasent worked for some time so i tracked it down to being an internal problem with the amp. Ford doesent carry these anymore and none of the boneyards around here have such a thing. if anyone has an idea on how to get one or fix the one i ot that would be great. im thinking of just telling him to upgrade the deck and dump the amp any ideas on that?
I replaced my rear amp with a 200 watt unit and with the speaker upgrade the difference was a fantastic improvement. There's not much room for one most of the amplifiers on the market, however Blaupunkt now makes some hight power units in a small package not much larger than the factory unit. Mine is a Rampage 4 channel unit.
Check eBay for a replacement amp. Might have to wait a few weeks for one to show, but I'm sure one will sooner or later.
I've got a question. I had a local shop change out the factory cassette deck in my 92 XLT for a nice Pioneer unit. I just noticed the rear door speakers don't work. The fronts do though as well as the sub. Are all of these speakers controlled from the amp in the rear or only the sub?
All four speakers are powered by the rear amplifier. So if the rear speakers are not working, it could be the amplifier or the head unit. Since they worked before, then it's probably the head unit. You need a stereo head unit that has a fader (four channel output). Good luck,
