97 Vs 92 Explorer

I also posted this in the Truck Buyer section but thought I might get some better feed back from the explorer section, Thanks,

Hello all, I have a few question's for you, on some vechiles I am looking at,
First the Trade in vechile a 1994 Ford Escort LX wagon, 158,000 miles good condition, rust along the bottom, Live in Wisconsin, and was used in Minnesota for 2 years of college, seen lot's of salt,

any way first vechile to trade for a 1992 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0L 132,000 miles, excellent body, White was in Illinios till 96 then in WI, seems to have undercoating on the frame, yet, 4x4 auto pwr windows locks, cruse, new tires 2 owner vechile Trailer Hitch cloth Interior good condition wiring am/fm cassete and aftermarket 6 disc cd changer "pioneer" trade for $3,612.00 ,

2nd choice 1997 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer editon, 5.0L AWD system, 112,000 miles Body in Good condition, no visible rust, pwr Windows Locks Seats, Temp display outside/inside, digitail Readout of system check, fuel mileage, Leather Interior good condition, 1st or 2nd owner vechile, Trade for $6,833.00

will use vechile for Daily to and from work and grocies maybe 5 miles a day, and on weekend's load up some friends and go out to eat making a 100 miles round trip, which in your opions is the better deal?

vechile will have to sit outside for the 1st year and then hopefully will be garage at night, next year some time,

Drive the Wagon till she drops?
trade for the 92?
trade for the 97?
can only afford payments up to $7,000.00

are there any problems with the 5.0L and AWD system in the 97 explorer's, That's the one I really like but dont know about the mileage and the AWD system,
thanks, for your help sorry about the long post,

97 Vs 92 Explorer

I have two explorers a 93 xlt (238,000) miles and a 97 xlt (143,000) both are equipped the same 4.0 4 speed auto I like the 97 for the improved ride and redesign fetures like the front suspesion not as squirrly and more room underthe hood to work on them plus the 97 will be worth more come trad in time the 92 will not be woth much in another two years plus the eddie baur pakage makes it more valibule also at trade in time plus you can't beat the extra power of the 5.0 don't know much about the awd mine is control trac if it snows alot where you live dump the wagon for the explorers a fwd is good on snow but a 4x4 kicks but on snow I have been a die hard two wheel fan until I got my first 4x4 now I will not own a truck unless it is 4x4 for the winter. just my 2 cents hope this help buddy
