I would like to install a 8" lift on my 2004 f350 (srw) but I would like to lift it 8" front and rear. I don't care for the leveling effect that everyone sells. Most of what I have seen is 8" front and 5" in the rear. Any Ideas!!
the only way to get what your looking for is to get a 8" kit all spring.. and put a 4" block under the rear spring... OR get an 8" kit.. and suplement a 10" rear spring... ALL Companies rear springs wont lift the rear as much as the front... i have 6" front spring (superlift) on 3.5" hangar... had to run a 12" rear spring on stock 2" block to get it back to factory rake...2-3" higher in back.(when i first got the kit had a 8" rear spring on 6" block.. and it was about 1" higher in the back.. so i was only getting about 5" of rear lift from the rear spring.. it was a skyjacker..)
Like JJ said, off the shelf kits are desinged to reatin the rear block and level the truck, because from the factory they are azz high., If you want to eliminate the block and keep the azz higher than the front, you need to get a custom spring or step up a on the rear spring the amount that the rear block is plus the 2 inches or so.
if a person was to eliminate the 2inch rear blocks and use the same height springs all the way around would the truck level out or would it sagg in the azz.
When a SD is perfectly level, they look low in the rear. So, if you ran a 8" front spring and a 8" rear spring you'd still need some block (1" or so depending on what springs you have, what motor you have, and how much rake you want).
As was mentioned you could get a 10" rear spring to run with a 8" front spring and no rear blocks and still have a little bit of rake. A couple things to consider with larger rear springs are that they won't ride as well as smaller springs and you can get to a point where the rear shackle doesn't offer enough movement to be able to fully compress the spring....
I would like for it to set the way it does now. It has the 5.4 with the snow plow package and I think the 4" blocks, I measured them but they are tapered for the correct pinion angle so I am not sure where you measure.....front or back of the block. I measured the back, the tallest part and came up with 3 3/4".

AS for the rear spring vs the shackle.. yeah any largely arced spring could max the shackle IF you could compress it that far... Same in the front... id imagine anything over a 6" spring would max the front shackle IF YOU COULD flatten the spring...(before anyone jumps on me...take note... I DO HAVE.. EDGE shackles.. yes the high performance racing kind... and id imagine theyd hit the frame if the spring was compressed to a point of flattening out..... and i only have 6" springs)
