I have a 1974 F-250 that I'm trying to bring back to life. I've been hunting an electrical problem and think I've found the source. The underhood wiring seems to be shot. After close examination of the wiring harness that runs from the generator to the battery and ignition components, I found frayed wires and a wire pulled out of a connector. There is also severe corrosion in various locations.
What are my options for replacing the wiring? I'd like to just replace the whole dang harness, it really is in terrible shape. Does anybody sell replacement wiring harnesses? I'm open to suggestions.
Bronco graveyard sells harnesses and parts. You can also grab a couple out of the scrap yard and make one good harness out of three then. Don't use that nasty split tubing unless you are doing a restoration. Use a better product like spiral wrap available at Radio Shack or even Wallmart.
The painless kits are generic and do not come with proper connectors.
