i,m working on an 86 full size bronco, i need to get the front hubs off to change the u- joints on the axle shafts. I can't get the hub locks out. I took the cap with the six allen screws off and the inner ring and spring. The manual say's the hubs should come right out, or use a puller. I put some tension on them with a puller but they won't come out. I took the snap ring off is there another retainer that i forgot? TIM

I didn't see a nut. I have the big socket tool but it won't work without getting the manual locking hub out first.

Oh, the Locking hub is still in place, did you get that dam hard to get ring out? The one you need to pick out from just inside the hub?

look for a snap ring on the edge of the stub shaft, that along with the larger snap ring in the edge of the hub itself will need to be removed. I use a couple of the allen bolts screwed in across from each other to help pull it out, and yes, sometimes they can be a bit stiff. Make sure both the snap rings are out and wiggle the assy a bit, it will come out.
