I have a 1995 F150 XLT with 54,000 miles. The engine, a 5.0L 302 is really clean and has been well taken care of along with the rest of the truck. Recently i have had starting problems especially when the weather is hot outside. I have replace the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, rotar, and distributer cap. None of these have fully taken care of the starting problem. It may be a failing fuel pump, but the truck has never stalled so i didn't replace them yet. Any comments or ideas of things to check would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.
Yes i have dual tanks. To answer your question, the starting problem hasn't happened with either particular tank however. Am i correct in saying that with dual tanks, i also have dual fuel pumps. i have read that if one pump is starting to go out, it will affect the other and both must be replaced at the same time. any thoughts on this or other comments are appreciated. thanks
You may actually have 3 pumps. It may have 1 low pressure pump in each tank and a high pressure pump on the frame under the drivers seat. I'm not sure what year that they quit doing this.
I would get a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure when it starts acting up.
