I'm coming up on the 15k mark and will need the trans serviced. Will the dealership be my best bet for a thorough job, or should I take it to a dedicated tranny shop? I'm more concerned about the quality of the work than the cost.

find out if they have a BG machine or a snap-on. the snap-on is better 4 tranny-flushes, cuz its got its own pump and doesnt use the nasty cleaners like BG. and watch to make sure they actually do it!!
First, make sure they have or can get the special synthetic tranny fluid called for in the Torque-Shift transmission... any other WILL ruin and void your warrenty.
I would flush the system to get 100 fluid changed... drop the pan and change the internal filter... then change the spin on filter up by the radiator.
Make sure whoever does it has the proper filters and fluid.
p.s. - I thought the tranny service wasn't until 30,000 miles???

What do you have to do at 15K to the tranny? Change your fuel filters at 15. Tranny gets serviced at 30K.
You guys are right, I don't know why I had 15k in my head. Even in the severe schedule nothing's to be done until 30K.
Pophauler... welcome to the "band of merry men" forum in the Kingdom of FTE, ruled by the heavy hand of the Sherriff Tim....
It's OK to be wrong, to much beer when your busy being a band of merry men happens. You may not immediately get the joke, but look for a current thread of 6.0 injectors and you'll catch on.
All for one and one for all.... oopps, that was the three Musketeers, not Robin Hood????

I don't wear green tights. I have the haircut for it and drink beer so, I'll volunteer for Friar Tuck. I said "Tuck", Tim.
