Found: Torn hose @ Turbo!
My friends,
Let me first start out saying that I am new to diesels and this board has helped me immeasureably! Thank each and every one of you!
While installing / modifying the EGR hose, I removed the boot at the turbo and to my surprise found a 2.5" tear! I'm not prone (yet) to being on dirt roads much, so I don't think there has been much damage done. I should point out that this tear appears to be heat related. Too much heat over 70,000 miles of resting near the head will do that to rubber. It was not worn through but it looks like heat cracks caused the tear. If you haven't checked yours lately... a word to the wise.(most of you)
Now, After reading all of the mods you'all have done and the results you have posted, I decided to follow your leads. I have purchased and installed a 4" downpipe and back exhaust system, 4 new Bilstein shocks, X-monitor (monitor only), Homemade Tymar style full flow air filter, Tymar X-over oil hose.(very nice kit
), EGR mod, Blowoff valve mod and have changed oil and filter to Mobil 1 Syn., She now purrs like a kitten and Roars like a Tiger.
Check yours soon if you haven't done it lately!
