Generally it just means a skid plate for the gas tank and transfer case.

If you look at the top of the page, it tells what forum you are in... this is the 1997 - 2003 F-150 forum.

Ummm...

OK, this is the 1997-2003 F-150 forum.

And his question was about a 1998 F150.

So is the problem that:
(1) this forum is only for 1997 and 2003 F-150's,
and 1998, 1999, 2001, 2001, and 2002 F-150's are not allowed...
OR (2) he asked about an F150 and only F-150's are allowed.

What's up ?

I realize that the moderators on FTE are extremely uptight, but I am completly clueless about why this was declared the improper forum.

Moderator: What say you ?

I think that maybe the question was first posted in General Conversation or some other forum and Torque1st moved it here for us.
And no we're not all extremely uptight but with as many posts and members as we have here it can be pretty hard to keep everything organized

Yes, it wasnt in this forum in the first place, so the mod moved it to the correct forum. You should thank him for placing it in the spot where you'll get the best input, instead of the mild insults you made

As has been previously posted, the Off-Road package also ups the shocks to "heavy duty" (2 inchers instead of 1-1/2??) and the tires to 17 in addition to the skid plates, 3.55 gearing (this is the Off-Road standard, I believe) and pretty little sticker.

A great place to research all of the available truck packages is cudirect.com (registration required).

Skid plates, 17" wheels/tires, heavier shocks, and stickers.

None of you guys must have bought a lariat with the off-road package because the lariat package canceled out the stickers. Me and my dealer went round and round about the stickers untill I finally told him I didn't want it then. Carried it back to the dealership, two days later its back at the house with 4x4 off-road stickers on it. Ended up buying it anyway! Later I did find out the lariat trim does cancel out the stickers! Mine came with 3.73 limited slip rears also added fog lights on mine.
lariatrider rides on.....
