My driver side door is unusally tough to open. I have to tug that thing to the point where it feels like the handle is going to break to pop it loose, and it opens. I've broken the handle clean off in the past, and I can't figure out why it's sticking. loose cord? how could I fix this? anyone else have this problem? I don't wanna keep breaking the handle and coughing up money every time to replace it. thanks!
it's a straight body, never been wrecked. it's not sticking, I just have to pull the handle up farther than it should be going to get it to unhook. something is loose, and I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem in the past. thanks guys. I'll check the other bolt though.
I'd have to say check the actuator rod leading from the handle to latch. I'm not sure how it would bent unless someone was in there before, or someone tryed to "slim jim" it.
I've broken 2 inside handles in past on my 92. reciently my handle was at the end of its travel and not opening the door on first pull.Took off door panel and found cable stretched, tried twisting cable to tighten but broke on first turn. Local dealer told me cable shows up on computer only as assembly consisting of handle, cable and latch.(very expensive 178.00 canadian) I've been opening window and using outside handle to exit until I find a used replacement. maybe your cable is also stretched with broken strands. good Luck Brampton
The cable is available separate in the "HELP" section of parts stores. I've fixed a couple that way, although I don't think the quality of some of that stuff is near as good as Ford. But try taking the door panel off and lubing everything. That may be all it needs.
