my 91 150 5.0 needs a new 1356 borg warner elec. t-case. ive been looking on ebay and see some that say they are for a broncos or for 92 and up or 90 and down. the pics of them look like mine(slip yoke,elec.). will any other years work for me or off a bronco?. or is there a cheaper, or different, t-case for me?
You will have 3 choices froms 80's to 96 on what tcase was in the truck, NP208, BW1345, BW 1356, I would personaly stay with the 1356, it is the newest of the bunch, and very strong.
thanks for the info! well i guess im going for a cheap fix. the 1356 electric shift seems to be more money and harder to find. i rarely use 4wheel, maybe 5 times a month, totaling 20 min-30 min, even in the winter. will the other cases listed bolt right up and work with mines without too much rigging? would one off a bronco work? ive seen alot of cases for 92 & up that look like they would match up. thanks
yes, the tcase can come out of a F150-350 or bronco with no rigging if it is a 1356 or 1354 with a slip yoke, you can even get a manual shift tcase if you want with little fabbing of a shifter
I'd go with a manual case, if I were you. Less wiring to deal with, and no problems with the shift motor deciding to take a walk and not come back.
The lever shouldn't require any fabbing. AFAIK, it's a bolt-in. You'll have to cut a hole in the carpet, but the punch-out for the case lever is right in the floor. Of course, I've never actually done it.
thanks everyone! all my questions have been answered. i think i will opt for the manual, maybe. what wiring would need to be done if i got a manual, if any? all right im off to look. great site guys, lots of info and helpful people!
