I looked through the posting andd maybeI missed it. I have a coolant leak on the top of the water pump. I changed the hose. Is that the thermostat or is it something else
hex, what kind of engine do you have? how many miles on it? water pump original?can you see esactly where it is leaking? if it is the top of the water pump, you may have a leaky water pump seal. when the water pump is failing it leaks out of a weep hole on the " bottom" of the pump. not the top... if it is up on the engine near the top hose it could be the thermostat housing. too many could be's to say yet what it is. more info will help. try to answer some of these questions and post again. good luck rick 91 aerostar xl ext aka "the green bean " 199 thou. miles 4.0 litre
If it is leaking on top of the waterpump it could still be the pump. I have seen water pumps that have a weep hole on the top AND the bottom of the pump. It could be the thermostat housing leaking a bit as well.
On mine the gasket blew out and water started weeping at first and accelerated to full streaming - one inch wide stream of coolant coming out the top while the engine was running.
I took the opportunity to replace several gaskets & the pump since it was nearing about 180K miles at the time.
Now at 211K miles all is well
It is a 3.0L V6 with about 150K, I have not change the Water Pump and Have had the van for 9 years. I can not see exactly where it is leaking it seems to be on the top of the water Pump under the Top Hose but before the Heater Hoses
